Angling from the breakwater

12/09/2019

Anglers and others with interest can now look forward to the vacations in the fall. Monday, October 14, 2019 the Port of Frederikshavn opens for public access to the new northern breakwater, if everything goes as planned.

The Port of Frederikshavn experiences a lot of interest especially from anglers, who are looking forward to getting access to the northern breakwater. We are therefore working hard to have the ISPS fence established and the accessibility completely finished.

- It is our plan to open up for public access to both the northern breakwater and the breakwater head from October 14. Presently, our challenge is to carry out the installation of a natural gas pipeline in connection with the access road. Should this work be delayed, we unfortunately have to postpone the opening. We hope for understanding, should we against expectations, be forced to postpone the opening a little, however I can promise that we are doing everything possible to be finished by he opening date. It is a day we all have been looking forward to for a long time, and we know that there are many anglers ready to start fishing from the new breakwater, says Jeppe Høgenhaug, Head of Maritime Department at Port of Frederikshavn.

Any stay on the area is presently connected with great danger, amongst other due to the large and heavy entrepreneur machinery being operated on the area. Until we open for public access, Port of Frederikshavn strongly encourages to respect the signs and for safety reason not visit the area.

The practical information regarding the opening will be informed later.
