Increased storage capacity

The Port of Frederikshavn has entered into agreement with the company Global Green Developer (GGD) regarding establishment of new facilities for the handling of both bulk products as well as project cargo at the Port of Frederikshavn.

10,000 m² new warehouse/production facilities will be established, distributed on 5 facilities of 2,000 m² each. The warehouses will be multifunctional and can be used for storage of bulk products such as corn and feedstuffs, biofuel, fertilizer, etc. The warehouses will have accessibility, which also makes it possible to store larger constructions – for example in connection with repairs of rigs. Finally, it will be possible to make short or long leases for possible production activities.

Today Global Green Developer has warehouse capacity at the Port of Køge and has chosen to place their new facilities at the Port of Frederikshavn due to the strategic good location and the possibilities of establishing a HUB function, where goods will be sailed to the port and later re-exported by ship. The Port of Frederikshavn has an optimal location compared to other activities, which GGD will disclose on a later occasion.

- It is with great pleasure that we can disclose the agreement with Global Green Developer, which is entirely in line with our strategy. We now profit of the expanded water depth of 14 metres, which makes it attractive for operators to use the port and this proves that the need for storage capacities in combination with a deep water quay is present. We expect the agreement with Global Green Developer to entail other interesting activities, which amongst others will involve international traders. We experience tremendous demand on storage and production facilities at the Port of Frederikshavn and with the new setup, we can comply with the needs of our existing and new customers, says Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, CEO at Port of Frederikshavn.

The facilities are expected to be ready for use in 3
quarter of 2019.

Søren Olsson, CEO at Global Green Developer is looking forward to co-operate with the Port of Frederikshavn: -Frederikshavn has the optimal location in relation to our future activities. The strategy and the central location of the port as a HUB for biofuel and other bulk products for onward distribution for Danish and North European destinations are perfect. Crucial for choosing the Port of Frederikshavn as base for further development of GGD’s storage facilities has whilst been the port’s visionary, business friendly and proactive orientation, which is expressed in the decision to expand the port area and ensure a water depth, which accedes the demands for the existing and future ship traffic.

The agreement with Global Green Developer means that all hinterland areas of Stage 1 (330,000 m
in total) are now fully leased.

- There is still space available on the new quay street. The area is kept clear for other activities such as rig upgrading, we thereby maintain a flexibility as to the many new activities, which are currently under way, concludes Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen.
