Orskov Yard’s new floating dock – Dock 5 – was tugged into place by the new quay on Saturday morning. The dock is now to be prepared for use later in January.
The floating dock, which was built at the Turkish yard Hat-San, was delivered to Orskov Yard this summer and tugged nearly 3,700 nautical miles to Frederikshavn, where an internal hydraulic support system was installed. Since then, the final placing of the dock has waited for the finishing of the new quay facility.
- The establishment of the new quay facility has gone according to plan, and CG Jensen has carried out a very fine piece of work under difficult conditions both in terms of the weather and the temporary closing down of Northern Jutland in the fall. It is amazing to see Dock 5 come into place by the new quay – a major milestone for the maritime service industry in Northern Jutland. We are looking forward to the dock soon being ready to receive the first customers, says Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, CEO at Port of Frederikshavn.
