The Port of Frederikshavn has decided to donate revenue from the Russian freightship Sayan Knyaz, which has been at the harbor site for repair since medio February until yesterday. The revenue will be donated to “Save the Children” and will be used to help children and their families that are in danger across the Ukraine.
Denmark has closed its airspace to Russian air traffic after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but so far the Danish Ports are not closed for ships flying the Russian flag.
- As a Danish Port, we cannot deny access for Russian ships, unless this has been decided by the authorities. We have a recipient obligation meaning that we must receive ships, that for instance are in distress or in need of repair, says Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, CEO Port of Frederikshavn.
