Signs contract with CG Jensen A/S

Yesterday Port of Frederikshavn signed contract with CG Jensen A/S regarding establishment of a new quay plant by Østre Kaj.

The project includes the establishment of a ship quay with a total length of 225 metres, of which the 200 metres will have a water depth of 9.5 metres. Parallel to the ship quay a 160 metres dock quay with a water depth of 14 metres will be established. The two quays will be separated by a 40 metres wide breakwater.

- We are very happy to be able to announce that we have now entered into agreement with CG Jensen A/S on the new quay plant. It has been a long process, however we feel that we have reached our goal with a very good project, which supports and meets the customers of the port and especially Orskov Yard. It is amazing that Orskov Yard expands their capacity and thereby utilises the possibilities, which the port expansion gives with more water depth. CG Jensen A/S has great expertise within water construction, and we are looking forward to working with them, says Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen, CEO at Port of Frederikshavn.

Also CG Jensen A/S looks forward to the project at Port of Frederikshavn:

- At CG Jensen we have worked a long time with this assignment, and it is great joy to us that Port of Frederikshavn has pointed us out as winners. It is a very heavy task and a great trust, which has been shown us. We shall do our outmost to respond this. Throughout the years, we have carried out many assignments for the port, however this is the largest to date, and we are looking forward to get started. We are ready with the right project and production team, so I am sure it will be good, says Jørn Asmussen, CEO at CG Jensen A/S.

New floating dock
The new quay plant shall amongst others give Orskov Yard space for their new 180 metres floating dock, already ordered at Hat-San Shipyard in Turkey. With the new dock, Orskov Yard will be able to service more vessels and vessels with larger draught than today:

- With this contracting between Port of Frederikshavn and CG Jensen our expansion project has now reached a milestone and we are looking forward to follow the construction up close. The new quay plant opens up for Orskov Yards’ expansion plans, so we can offer our customers larger capacities and flexibility in the future, says Lars Fischer, CEO at Orskov Yard A/S.

The project engineering of the quay has already started, and the physical activities are expected to start after the Easter holidays. The plan is that Orskov Yard can start the installation of the new floating dock by January 2021, where there will be a partial delivery of the dock quay. The entire project is expected to be finished by July 2012.
